Tropical Leg Ulcer-Mkpo Oyong Urua

Tropical leg ulcer otherwise known as jungle sores is a rapidly worsening wound, usually found on the legs.

It starts as a minor injury or insect bite and progresses into an open, painful sore.

In Nigeria, especially among people who walk barefoot in local markets these ulcers are common and debilitating.

They are worsened by poor hygiene, hot climates.

Tropical leg ulcer is treated with Nigerian herbs.

In many parts of Nigeria, especially rural communities, one of the most painful yet overlooked wounds is the tropical ulcer locally known as Mkpo Oyong Urua in Akwa Ibom State.

It starts as small as a mosquito bite—particularly dangerous for diabetics—and rapidly turns into a deep, infected sore.
